
Introduction
The Department of Urology was established as a separate department on 2072 Baisakh and is among one of the most dynamic and busiest departments of this hospital in terms of OPD rush, operative schedule and turnover. It serves as a referral centre for various urological conditions for patients all over Nepal.
The department deals with the various conditions related to the urinary tract of both male and female. The surgical treatment regarding adrenal pathologies is also provided by the department.
The department has been embracing the newer technologies and is equipped with the technologies required for the treatment of various urological conditions.
In addition to providing clinical services, the department is also dedicated to teaching learning activities. The MCh superspeciality training program was initiated in the year 2010 AD and since then more than 10 urologists have graduated. The department enrolls three MCh Urology residents each year and residents of Department of General Surgery are also trained in the department on the rotation basis. The department is also actively involved in research activities with various publications in national and international journals.
